Anyone having any luck with the high speeds available on twin screw compounders these days? From what I see, all of the support equipments, including the die, needs to have a 1:10 rate capacity to keep up with the flexibility of these machines, and that is the most difficult part. A die that runs 500-1000 lbs/hr, is no good at 5000 lbs/hr and visa-versa. What to buy and how to buy the next machine is at the root of this question for myself, and I'm sure others.Tom C IP: Logged |

I thought I might give this post some life again. Are there any twin screw guys out there? There is little available data on what is achievable on Mega machines. To date the best feature of Mega machines seems to be the high torque ability. I've seem over 1000 lbs/hr of ABS run on a 70 Mega at just 120RPM. This was an impressive demonstration of the extruders torque capability, but no where near tapped into the potential for 4000 lbs/hr plus at high screw RPMs. That combination seems much harder to get.
